Braces tips from Dr. Gerlein

If you remember our post from last week, February is National Children’s Dental Health Month, and a perfect time of the year to remind our patients about the need to practice good oral hygiene while wearing braces and to visit Gerlein Orthodontics on a regular basis for adjustments. Besides brushing, flossing and staying away from all those sweets and braces-unfriendly foods, check out these tips from Dr. Gerlein and our team.

Other methods to take care of ones braces that we recommend besides brushing, flossing, and staying away from sticky/chewy foods are:

1. Using fluoride rinse to help with cavities, and also canker sores. It is recommended to use before bed because you are not supposed to eat or drink for several hours after use.

2. Using the wax to help with discomfort from poking wires or irritating brackets

Let us know if you have any questions by giving us a call, asking Dr. Gerlein during your next visit or asking us on Facebook!

Happy Valentine's Day!
